ACDC, the perenniel rockers from down under have been linked to every economic downturn in Britain for the last 35 years, claims the Guardian. The new album Black Ice has hit the top of the charts in the UK and Australia, and the last time that occurred, Britain was headed for a recession in 1980 and the ground breaking Back In Black was at the top of the charts. And history repeats itself.
“British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Mervyn King, the Bank of England’s governor, admitted that Britain was on the verge of recession. Then food sales were reported to have seen their biggest fall for 20 years. Last night came final and irrevocable proof that the country is entering tough economic times, unseen since the ’80s: AC/DC have returned to the top of the album charts for the first time in 28 years.”
One thing is for sure-the Brits, the Aussies and the Yanks all think there is somethng special about these veteran rockers as cd sales have gone through the roof this week, and more shows keep getting added to the massive world wide tour about to kick off. ACDC tickets available here…
